Our essential services will continue in operation throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Some services will be subject to restrictions, details below.

Libraries

Library Headquarters and main library branches (Athy, Celbridge, Kildare Town, Leixlip, Maynooth, Naas) will close Tuesday, 23 December at 4:00 p.m. and reopen Monday, 29 December. County Archives & Local Studies and part-time library branches (Ballitore, Castledermot, Clane, Kilcock, Kilcullen, Monasterevin, Rathangan) will close Tuesday, 23 December at 4:00 p.m. and reopen Monday, 5 January 2026 as per normal opening hours that week. Clocha Rince Library will close Monday, 22 December at 4:00 p.m. and reopen on Monday, 5 January 2026. Mobile Library - finishes Thursday, 18 December and will return Tuesday, 13 January 2026. Check if your library account needs to be renewed before Christmas to ensure you retain access to our online services. |

Building Control
The BCMS will be closed to the submission of Commencement Notices, 7 Day Notices and Applications (including Further Information or Revised Information) and Certificates of Compliance on Completion from 12:00 p.m. on Friday, 19 December 2025 to 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, 1 January 2026.
Certificates of Compliance on Completion will not be added to the Register between Friday, 19 December 2025 and Thursday, 1 January 2026, and you should bear this in mind when submitting a Prenotification Completion Certificate (these must be notified 3 to 5 weeks before the closure date).
Please liaise with buildingcontrol@kildarecoco.ie if you have any queries, particularly in relation to the submission of 7 Day Notices and Certificates of Compliance on Completion.
Parking Enforcement

Celbridge& Leixlip |
There will be free parking in Celbridge and Leixlip from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday to Friday in Celbridge and Leixlip from Monday,15 December to Wednesday, 31 December 2025 inclusive. Illegal parking will continue to be enforced as normal during this free parking period. |

All other towns |
All other areas within County Kildare, including Sallins, Clane and Kilcock will continue to be regulated as normal. |
Parking Fine Payments and Parking Appeals
Parking Fine Payments:
Payment systems for fines issued on or after Tuesday, 23 December 2025 will not be available for payment at Áras Chill Dara, or on-line until Monday, 29 December 2025. After this date, payments return to normal.
Parking Appeals and Appeal Queries:
Parking Fine Appeals and Queries can be submitted by logging onto https://kildare.apcoa.ie/ by post or during opening hours, in person at the Roads and Transportation public counter.

Christmas Tree Recycling:
Kildare County Council provides a free service to the public where they can bring their real Christmas trees to be recycled in a sustainable way. In total, there are 7 sites across the county where this service is provided.
- Athy, Meeting Lane Carpark
- Celbridge Interchange, Council Yard,
- Clane, GAA Club
- Naas, Fairgreen
- Newbridge, Lidl Distribution Centre (beside the R445 Roundabout)
- Maynooth, Council Depot, beside Fire Station
- Monasterevin, Moore Abbey Coillte Carpark
The Christmas trees are shredded, and the mulched trees are made available to be used on local landscaping projects. The sites are open from Monday, 5 January 2026 to Monday,19 January 2026.
Glass and can recycling banks will be serviced over the Christmas period.
These sites may be busier than usual, and if they are full, we kindly ask that you do not leave any waste beside the banks.
