Kildare County Council in Final Stages of Acquiring Moore Abbey, Monasterevin
Kildare County Council is in the final stages of acquiring Moore Abbey, together with its associated lands and buildings in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare from the trustees of the Sisters of Charity of Jesus and Mary. The religious community have a longstanding presence in Monasterevin, having acquired Moore Abbey in the 1940s, and now wish for the property to be used for the benefit of the local community. The conveyance process is proceeding in a spirit of joint cooperation.
The Muiriosa Foundation, current occupants of Moore Abbey House, will continue to maintain a presence on the site for a period of time following the acquisition.
Following completion of the acquisition, Kildare County Council will engage in a process of consultation for the preparation of a masterplan for the future use of the estate for the benefit of the community including the sympathetic preservation and reuse of Moore Abbey House.
