PROPOSED TRAFFIC CALMING MEASURES
SECTION 38 OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC ACT 1994
In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act 1994, Kildare County Council hereby gives notice of its intention of:
Scoil Mochua, Celbridge - Safe Routes to School Scheme comprising of:
- Implementation of Safe Routes to School measures, including pencil bollards and road markings, to improve safety for vulnerable road users at the school.
- Installation of five (5) raised uncontrolled pedestrian crossings with junction tightening on roads adjoining Aghards Road in close proximity to Scoil Mochua.
- Installation of two (2) uncontrolled at grade pedestrian crossings in Ash Grove, to improve safety for vulnerable road users using the back/side entrance to Scoil Mochua.
- Upgrade of one (1) existing uncontrolled crossing at the main entrance to Scoil Mochua.
- Construction of a 2m wide tarmacadam permeability pathway linking existing footpaths at the back of the school near Ash Grove and Castlewellan Park.
- Retention of existing round-top speed ramps and the existing raised signalised toucan crossing.
- Retention of existing road kerb lines and carriageway widths along Aghards Road.
- Removal of car parking layby alongside road and widening of the footpath opposite Scoil Mochua on Aghards Road to promote safe active travel.
Drawings showing the proposed works will be available for inspection at the following locations from Wednesday, 30 April 2025 to Thursday, 29 May 2025.
